The AAA Cares Coverage Plans
AAA Cares Complete
AAA Cares Complete provides the most comprehensive option to protect your household goods. If an article is lost, destroyed or damaged while in AAA’s custody, we will either: repair the item, replace it with a similar item, or make a cash settlement for the cost of the repair or the current market replacement value.
How is coverage for AAA Cares Complete determined?
According to government regulations, coverage for intra-state and interstate moves is determined by weight and is set at a minimum of $6.00 per pound. For local moves where AAA Movers is not weighing your possessions, we base the valuation on the policy value you select prior to your move commencing. At AAA Movers we have a minimum policy value on our AAA Cares Complete of $15,000. The chart below lists pricing for 4 levels of deductibles. Simply look at the policy amount in the left hand column and choose what deductible you would like. For instance if you were interested in a higher deductible of $500, the cost for a $60,000 policy would be $300.00.
All items selected for AAA Care Complete Coverage will need to be inventoried prior to being loaded at the origin location. Only the items contained on the inventory form will be covered under this policy.
AAA Cares Standard
AAA Cares Standard is provided to you at no additional charge — it’s included in the cost of your move. In the event that anything is lost or damaged, each article is covered for 60 cents per pound.
Give this option careful consideration: while AAA Cares Standard is the most economical option, it only provides minimal protection. For example, under the Standard option, if your $3,500, 55″ TV that weighs 45 pounds is damaged during the move, you would be paid $27.00 (45lbs x $.60). We know every move is different, so it is important for you to gauge how much it would cost to replace everything you’re moving and then decide accordingly.
With AAA Movers you can rest assured that we will do everything in our power to ensure your belongings are kept safe and treated with the same care we would our own possessions. However, having a safety net in case something does go wrong is a good option to prevent any additional costs for replacing items and unneeded worry. Taking advantage of our AAA Cares Coverage options gives you better piece of mind. And ultimately, that is our goal.

Frequently Asked Questions
Note that your actions can limit AAA’s liability. These include:
- Packing perishable, dangerous, or hazardous materials in your household goods without AAA’s knowledge. Materials might include nail polish remover, various oils, paint and more. AAA Movers has packing instructions of what you can and cannot pack- follow those guidelines and you’ll be ok.
- Packing your own boxes can save you a lot of money. But this also limits your mover’s liability.
- Choosing Standard coverage when your household goods are valued at more than 60 cents per pound, per article.
- Failing to notify your mover in writing about articles of extraordinary value (china, crystal, silver, antiques, arts, electronics, and more)
- AAA Movers does not move jewelry, cash, coins, or currency and cannot take responsibility for their loss.
Both AAA Cares options will cover you in and out of storage. If you elect the AAA Cares Complete option, your account will be billed an additional 10% of your monthly storage costs. This continues your coverage while your property is in storage with AAA Movers and is a requirement when you store at one of our facilities.
No. Valuation coverage is not the same as insurance. AAA Movers recommends that you consult your homeowner’s insurance policy to understand the value of your household goods.
Yes, but how much protection you have and its cost to you depends upon the valuation coverage you selected. The valuation option you choose determines the basis upon which any claim will be adjusted and the maximum liability of the carrier. The liability of a carrier for loss or damage is based upon the carrier’s tariffs, as well as federal laws and regulations that have certain limitations and exclusions. Valuation is not insurance; it is the liability of the moving company. Check with the provider of your homeowner’s insurance to find out if you are covered for moving.
Released Value – This is the most economical as there is no additional cost. However, this option provides only minimal protection and is not sufficient coverage for most shipments. It will pay you $.60 per pound per article if lost or damaged while moving. That means a piece of furniture weighing 75 lbs would receive a settlement of $45.00. You will be asked to initial the bill of lading if you select this coverage. The only place this is applicable is if your insurance policy covers your goods for their entire value and this would be considered supplemental coverage for your move.
Full Maximum Value Protection – This is your most comprehensive coverage. You may hear it referred to as “full replacement value” as well as “full value protection” by other van lines. If you elect to purchase full value protection, articles that are lost, damaged, or destroyed will be either repaired or replaced with like items, or a cash settlement will be made for the current market replacement value.
The cost of full value protection may be subject to various deductible levels of liability that may reduce your cost. Ask your moving coordinator for the details of their specific plan.
